I guess it’s all about the July 4th hangover this week as the number of game releases shrinks to nearly nothing both sides of the Atlantic. One game worth mentioning is The Bigs 2. The sequel to 2007’s arcade-style Baseball game that was a surprising hit. Available for the Wii, Xbox360, PS3, PS2 and PSP, I’ll be interested to see if the motion controls give the Wii the decent Baseball game it’s been crying out for.
For the UK to commiserate/celebrate the shrinking of the colonies we have Guitar Hero: World Tour appearing on the PC – not the platform you’d expect a plastic-instrumented rhythm music game to release on.
Other games include Space Camp for the Wii & DS, but most curiously is the release of Mission Impossible for the Wii. This is a port of the original C64 game and includes a classic remake as well as a new version of the game on the disc. I seem to remember this being a controller-smashing nightmare of game from my youth so I’d approach this classic with caution.
Perhaps more appealing is the release of Tales from Monkey Island on PC. This is a completely new episodic re-imagining of the well-loved adventure game from the makers of Sam & Max and Wallace & Gromit. Telltale Games have a great track record with updating adventure games into a palatable modern experience and I’m eagerly anticipating this new release.
