The Beatles: Rock Band (T), gets its release this week and its safe to say that I was blown away by the quality of its production and sheer fun my family had whilst playing it. The sheer amount of fun and entertainment the relatively short story mode produced for us was immense and I highly recommend the game to anyone with an interest in music games or The Beatles.
Of course, the kids aren't always down with proper good music anymore so this week sees a couple of other top-notch releases to keep them busy whilst the parents succumb to Beatlemania.
Over on the Wii, Muramasa: The Demon Blade (T) will satisfy any 2D adventure fighting desires with a style very similar to that of the acclaimed Odin Sphere on the PS2. But the big family game this week is Mini Ninjas (E10) which looks to be a very interesting action fighting game appealing for all ages. There's six playable characters, each with different moves, strengths and weaknesses. The most kid-friendly part of the game is that there's no killing - when you defeat an enemy it's transformed back into its original animal form.
For the racing fanatic there's DiRT 2 (E10) and Little Big Planet (E) gets a Game of the Year edition re-release with a ton of new content. If you missed this excellent and creative platformer from last year then its a great time to go back and give a shot. As well as a few of the downloadable add-on packs included on the disc it also contains new levels commissioned by the developers from the best designers in the community. Well worth a go.
Finally, in the UK, Guitar Hero 5 (12+) gets its release although if you're going to be getting a music game this week then its simply got to be The Beatles: Rock Band.
